About Capital Genetics

In 2025, Capital Genetics was established in the Canberra region (Australia) to meet the growing demand for genetic storage.

Strategically located between Melbourne and Sydney, Capital Genetics provides farmers and animal breeders with a secure genetic storage solution for frozen semen and embryos.

Collaborating with other facilities and veterinary clinics in Vic., NSW and Qld, Capital Genetics completes the east coast network for the movement of reproductive material between facilities, providing a cost-effective solution for owners and clients.

Frozen Semen Straws - FOR SALE

Capital Genetics is proud to offer a range of frozen semen straws for sale on behalf of our clients (cattle) and we are pleased to announce the list continues to grow and is open to all ‘companion animal breeders’.

On occasion we will also offer some of the harder to find/rarer straws from our own collection.

Straws are located in the Canberra region (Australia) and can be shipped anywhere domestically, including any other reproductive storage facility, insemination technician or veterinary clinic in Australia.

Capital Genetics also has frozen straws available in Germany, the UK and the USA.

Did You Know?

In 2019, it is estimated 664,000 cattle and 48,000 sheep died in the Qld floods, representing an estimated economic cost of nearly $2 billion (AUD).

In 2025, the same region was flooded again and a further 105,348 livestock is thought to have died.

As of January 2026, Victoria is again in the midst of devastating bushfires. The toll to livestock and wildlife remains unknown but is expected to be high.

Banking or preserving genetic material has never been so important.

The Australian Reproductive Conservation Program (ARCpro)

Preserving genetics is vital to the survivability of any species. Genetic diversity is the foundation to a species’ long term survival, health and capacity to evolve and adapt.

The frequency and intensity of natural hazards coupled with disease and habitat loss is plunging some of Australia’s fauna and flora into devastatingly low numbers.

Preserving genetics enables conservationists the ability to manage populations at risk of inbreeding depression and employ ‘genetic rescue strategies’ to increase genetic diversity and resilience whilst decreasing the risk of extinction.

Capital Genetics is committed to supporting conservation genetics through collaboration with conversationists, private and government zoos and researchers.
